Dr. J. Dudley Talbot

Doctor-Talbert-01Doctor Talbot spent more than sixty years of his life as a physician. He was one of the area’s first specialists in obstetrics and gynecology, practicing at Tri-State Hospital (later Willis-Knighton Memorial Hospital) from 1939 to 1999. Dr. Talbot delivered hundreds of newborns in his career and was known throughout Shreveport-Bossier as a beloved physician who delivered multiple generations within families. Dr. Talbot also learned to fly, sometimes using his plane to visit patients living outside of the Shreveport-Bossier City community.

In 2005 he began the museum that now bears his name through a generous donation of funds and historical artifacts. In 2012 Dr. Talbot helped fund a nursing professorship at Northwestern State University’s School of Nursing in Shreveport. Dr. Talbot passed away in 2015 at the age of 100, but not before he was able to privately tour the brand new Talbot Museum in March 2014.
