Dr. Thomas A. Glass was born in Minden, Louisiana. His family was one of Minden’s founders and and he attended his early schooling at Minden grammar and high school. He went to Tulane University and graduated with an MS degree in 1934 and continued on to get his medical degree there in 1937.
He interned at Tri-State Hospital in Shreveport and later completed his residency at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. Like many doctors of his generation, Glass served in World War Two from 1942 to 1946 leaving the service as a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy.
Dr. Glass returned to Shreveport to resume his practice at Tri-State Hospital, later Willis- Knighton Memorial. For the next sixty years, Glass would specialize in obstetrics and gynecology and delivering literally thousands of babies in in Shreveport. Later, he became associated with Dr. J. Dudley Talbot, another Tri-State “alum”. He passed away in 2003 at the age of 89.
