Proud to Be in Bossier Commemorative Book

Description

This small, illustrated book was created by the Willis-Knighton Health System to commemorate the opening of the WK Bossier Health Center on July 15, 1996.  The book was given to attendees at the grand opening of the Bossier medical facility.

Noted Bossier historian Clifton D. Cardin researched the photos and wrote the accompanying text.  It details important events in the history of not just Bossier City, but the entire parish from the 1830s to the 1950s.

Personalities in the book include Pierre Evariste Jean Baptiste Bossier after whom the parish’s namesake as well as Dr. Paul Lawrence, Civil War veteran and long- time rural physician, and events such as the opening of Governor Huey P. Long cutting the ribbon opening Louisiana’s part of the Dixie-Overland Highway (now Highway 80).

In the Foreword, Health System CEO and President James K. Elrod writes “We like you are proud to be in Bossier.”
